Contents of macro- and microelements in blood serum and breast muscle of broiler chickens subjected to different variants of pre-slaughter handling

چکیده
During pre-slaughter handling, poultry is exposed to a variety of co-acting stimuli: sudden displacement, vehicle movement, speeding up, vibrations, jolts, noise, lack of feed and water, restriction of natural behaviours, disturbance of flock hierarchy, restriction of living space, exposure to pain, and change of transport microclimate (Duncan, 1989; Broom, 1990; Mitchell and Kettlewell, 1998). The accumulation of such a great number of stress factors in such a short period of time results in diminished immunity of birds as well as in physiological and morphological changes in their bodies. Those effects are primarily manifested by changes in the blood composition, changes in the structure of muscle tissue, body weight losses and increasing death rate as well as by damage to bird carcasses and deterioration of their meat quality (Kettlewell, 1989; Weeks and Nicol, 2000; Warriss et al., 2005; Večerek et al., 2006; Wojcik, 2007). A high number of stress stimuli acting in the preslaughter handling disturb an organism’s homeostasis. This, in turn, leads to a loss of macroand microelements, deficiency of which in meat may affect its quality (Mowat, 1994; Podgorski et al., 2001; Truchlinski et al., 2007). Available literature provides no data on any trial of monitoring changes in contents of macroand microelements simultaneously in blood and meat of poultry subjected to the action of various stress-bearing factors. Hence, the study was undertaken to determine the contents of Ca, Mg, Na, K, P, and Fe in blood serum and breast muscles of broiler chickens subjected

The purpose of this experiment was to compare the effects of essential oils blend with probiotic and Flavomycin as antibiotic growth promoter on humoral immunity, meat quality, and some blood parameters in broiler chickens. A total of 288 day old Ross 308 strain broiler chicks based on a completely randomized design was allocated to four treatments with four replicates and 18 birds in each repl...

The goals of this research were to estimate the phenotypic relationship among various breat meat quality traits, blood parameters and tonic immobility from a broiler and to describe the relation among these variables. Broiler chicks were devided into different groups: (1) colour clothing groups represented four different colours as red, blue, green, and gray and (2) the chicks that were subject...
متن کاملChicken infectious anaemia virus infection among broiler chicken flocks in Iran
Chicken infectious anaemia is a viral disease in young chickens which characterized by aplastic anaemia and immunosuppression. Between January 2004 and July 2005, an unusual hemorrhage in subcutaneous and intramuscular tissues of broiler chickens at slaughter houses of Mashhad, Isfahan and Tehran provinces were occurred. Postmortem examination revealed severe hemorrhages in the wings and muscle...
متن کاملECOR phylotyping and determination of virulence genes in Escherichia coli isolates from pathological conditions of broiler chickens in poultry slaughter-houses of southeast of Iran
Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) are responsible for wide ranges of extra-intestinal diseases in poultry including colibacillosis, cellulitis, coligranuloma and yolk sac infection. Numbers of virulence are considered important in the pathogenicity of these diseases. The aims of the present study were phylogenetic typing and virulence genes detection in Escherichia coli </em...

Marek's disease (MD) is the most common lymphoproliferative diseases of chickens; During the last year the incidence of MD was investigated among slaughter houses and suspected broiler farms, located in Isfahan (Iran) as the region of highest density of poultry husbandry by histopathology, For subclinical MD investigation, in total 1550 chickens originated from slaughter houses were exam...
